Must read đ
A wonderfully detailed and uplifting book for children which would make you laugh and fall in love with dogs all over again!
Full of humour and vivid imagery, this book is a treat to the senses. The story is written in simple language that is easy to grasp and has a wide range of vocabulary that is suitable for young children. Humour has been laced within the text effortlessly, and it lends to the overall charm of the story. Starting with General Pablo to Izzy, the main characters in this book are all dogs. As Pablo tells us the story in first person, we look into a world from the perspective of tiny spirited chihuahua and become acquainted with the human world from a relative distance.
When the leader of the troop faces trouble and is rushed to the emergency room at the veterinary, the scene is described with sensitivity so as to not portray any graphic details of the violence. Instead, the narrative focuses on how the humans express their care and concern towards the wounded dog in their own ways. While one of the kids, laughs at Pablo’s confusion and clumsy gait the next day, it is one without poison or vindictiveness. The situation is light-hearted and amusing, traced with comic elements behind the retorts. Throughout the story, we notice that Pablo is given a free ride by the family and although he is hardly in control of the dogs in his so-called “troop”, he is still praised and appreciated for his initiatives to maintain decorum in the farm. Even when utter chaos reigns and all the dogs are busy chasing around each other creating havoc or snarling at one another, or according to the General’s orders pooping at the stoop, the humans in the story are mostly indulgent and affectionate to the dogs. This is great for young readers because children learn by imitation and such behaviours displayed by characters in the book would then encourage the children to be equally lenient and caring to dogs in their own lives. Recommended for kids and for inculcating a genuine love of dogs.

Book 1
#1 Operation Mailman’ is the first in a series of three stories (at present) featuring Pablito Bandito, the fastest chihuahua in the midwest, better known as General Pablo to his ‘troops’. Illustrated with black and white line drawings by the author, Tomi Hall, in collaboration with Mar Cholula, this is a crazily funny chapter book for young readers.
Living on a farm in Illinois, Pablo and his 12 permanent ‘soldiers’ run a military-style regime to get all the rescue pups that the farm owners take in, into shape for rehoming, with varying degrees of success! Operation mailman is a scheme Pablo puts in place to get the new postie, who doesn’t like dogs, replaced again by Gene, their previous one, who always brought treats and made a fuss of them but who has now retired. It is a three-pronged ‘attack’, starting with an aggressive barking reception followed next time by a silent rejection. At least that’s the plan! The final prong, liberally decorating the driveway up to the farmhouse with doggy poop, nearly defeats their object, however, when it is not the postman who is the first to arrive.Â
This book is thoroughly entertaining and the incongruous image of a chihuahua giving orders to Alsatians and the like is hilarious, as is the chaos that only large numbers of mismatched dogs can cause. But will they prevail in the end and achieve their goal…you’ll have to read it to find out!

Book 1
This was a fun story told in a different way, by a group of dogs, who get up to all sorts of mischief when their favourite mailman no longer delivers the mail to where they live.
It also had a nice twist at the end.
Fun for all!Â

Book 1
This was a hilarious book told from a dogs perspective. There was a bit of anthropomorphism going on but it was a great story and I believed a dog might think and act this way. I kept thinking about what fun the author had imagining what her dog might be thinking. I also wonder how much time she and the dog spent side-eying the postman. If you like dogs, good stories or postal workers, you will like this book.

Loved it! đ
A simply adorable story of friendship and protecting the ones you love, knowing there can always be more than one hero.
Synopsis
The neighborâs chickens have gone missing. The humans think it is coyotes, but Pablo and his team know the truth. Izzy is up to her usual shenanigans with a surprising outcome.
When I got to her, I yelled, âIzzy, did you hear what I said?â as I watched her twirling around. âWell, no, you were running, and I was twirling. It pretty much came out like gobbledygook,â Izzy answered. âHave you seen my ball, ball, ball while you were running?â
Get ready to enjoy Pablo and his team as they solve The Case of the Missing Chickens in their own unique way.
Pablito Bandito by Tomi Hall is a sweet story of a loving family with a brave little Chihuahua who learns that someone else can be a hero, especially when everyone works together.
Pablito is the General. He makes sure the farms stay safe and everyone is well protected. It is Pablitoâs responsibility to watch over the more vulnerable animals like the ducks and chickens and when he learns from his owner that another farmerâs chickens are missing he knows heâs the one to solve the crime and make everything right again.
Each of the characters is given a very distinct personality and Pablito finds a way to show each one that they are a valuable part of the team. For the pup who has had back leg issues staying close to home is really the best place to stand guard. The more vulnerable animals sense they are safe when Pablito calls in his troops.
This story takes a mix of a serious tone, since Pablito knows he has a real job to do, with a bit of humor as Pablito considers buying his owner the hearing aids he saw on a television commercial. All of the characters show that they care about each other and it is evident that the people care about their animals and about their neighbors.
Without giving a spoiler, one of the best parts of the story is at the end where even the bad guys are given a chance for redemption, knowing they were made to do the bad things they did, and they could be taught what is right.
Tomi Hall has found a way to teach a lot of good things in a fun way with an adorable little dog!
